Wine Cellars

The Twins Wine House consists of four cellars: the old cellar, which is a closed type and currently functions as a bio cellar; an open-type cellar; a cellar created for scientific research and a closed cellar, arranged in the ground below the museum. The testing cellar allows visual observation of the chemical processes taking place in the qvevri during wine making.

Bio-Certified Cellar

In 2015, the Saperavi and Rkatsiteli vineyards of the company switched to organic production and as a result, in 2019, the company received a bio-certificate. Nowadays, a closed type cellar consisting of 13 qvevris is used to make organic wine, which is inspected annually and is completely isolated from other products.

Open Cellar

When visiting the complex, you will definitely notice our open-type cellar, which consists of 67 qvevris. In this cellar you can attend the opening of the qvevri and taste the newly opened wine on the spot.

Closed Cellar

There are 21 qvevris in the closed cellar of the Twins Wine House.

Testing Cellar

The twin brothers, Gia and Gela Gamtkitsulashvili, are one of the pioneers in the scientific study of Qvevri and Qvevri wine. Between 2002 and 2005, the brothers earned a second academic degree in oenology and viticulture. In 2018, Gia Gamtkitsulashvili completed part of the research and became Doctor in Food Science and Technology. The scientific cellar houses qvevris made of different types of clay-minerals, baked at different temperatures, which played a key role in the production of the research.

As for the old cellar, which the twins inherited from their ancestors - it now functions as a bio cellar.
